CLAUDIA LOVES CATS

February is nearly here! We've had one whole month of 2017 (nearly) so here are my January beauty favourites... there are a lot but that's because I had lots for Christmas and I feel like I have been shopping a lot recently!
So here goes...

Clinique Crayola Chubby stick in shade Mauvelous
I have all 8 of this and I love how they give a lovely sheen to your lips - as well as actually being moisturising! This shade is definitely my favourite, I have worn it nearly every day since buying it! These are limited edition as well! You can buy the set I have here for £35

Clinique Pep-start Eye Cream
I got this as a tester when I bought the Crayola limited editions and it's meant to be an anti-fatigue cream and it definitely feels so nice on my skin. I love this little sample tube, it's so easy to store and pop in your bag. You can buy the full-size tube here for £22

Garnier Pure Micellar Cleansing Water
I had heard amazing things about micellar water (for such a good price) and thought it was only fair that I gave it a go. I had a quick look at the ones on offer and thought I would try this one, which is specifically for oily and blemished skin. I really like it! It feels so clean and fresh and seems to really get rid of my make-up- the only thing it isn't as good at is my eye make-up! This is definitely a great purchase if you want to try micellar water and have oily skin! You can buy it here for £3.33 (SO CHEAP!!)

Brushegg Make-up Brush Cleaner
This is great- it only arrived on Saturday morning and I've already cleaned all my brushes with it. It's a great size and really easy to use - I got mine in pink but you can get all sorts of colours. Get this here for £4.95

Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask
My mum bought this for me for Christmas as I am loving the rest of the Tea Tree at Body shop range. This did not disappoint. I have used it quite a bit recently as it's not gloopy, it literally just goes on your face like clay then you can wash it off. I used it in the bath the other day and my skin looked SO much better when I got out of the bath. It's a really good price too. Get it here for £11

Alpha H Liquid Gold
I got this in my M and S beauty advent calendar and was a little worried to use it on my face because it said glycolic acid on the packet. I read more about it online and someone had said how it was good for acne and I was determined to give it a try. I personally am not sure how much it actually works, but it makes my skin feel a lot better - tighter and gives it a tingling sensation. I usually use it when I'm doing some work or something like that, and don't want to use a face mask - there are more instructions on the website. You can get the full size one (and read more about it) here for £33.50

Argan+ Argan Oil Nourishing Lip Balm
LOVE THIS!!! My mum got it me for Christmas and not only is it my favey fave colour it is amazing!! It feels like a real treat for your lips and you don't need much each time which means it's already lasted longer than my Carmex. I think this is ideal for winter weather- it's so soothing and nice on your lips. I think out of all my January faves this is my absolute favourite. You can buy it here for £3.95

This Works Sleep Plus Pillow Spray
I feel like I am late to the party with this one! I had seen loooads about this from other beauty bloggers and needed to try it (I genuinely have sleeping issues as well!) so I thought what better time than when the January sales were on. I really think it works! It does smell nice and it makes me feel relaxed and cosy before bed. You can get it here for £25

I hope you all enjoyed this post please leave a comment if you did or if you have tried any of these products before!

N.B. This post is NOT intended to persuade you to stop eating pig - it's a personal story of a realisation I have come to about my own feelings regarding eating pork. If you don't want to hear about it, you can instead read my other posts!

Watching this video was the moment I realised I didn't want to eat pig anymore. I had been debating giving up eating some types of meat for a while as I wasn't sure where I stood on meat in general on a moral level. In particular, I had an issue with pig because of my dog Coco (see above).

Looking at photos of pigs I realise how similar pigs are to dogs (especially Coco, who is a French Bulldog and snorts and trumps like a pig), and the more I read about them being clever (as clever as a three-year-old apparently) the more I really really don't want to eat them. I understand that they don't have much use, agriculturally speaking, without us eating them, and I am not against others eating pigs, I just can't.

So far, I haven't missed pork at all. We have all embarked on this (except my sister whose favourite food is gammon) and we are eating Linda Mccartney sausages, turkey bacon and avoiding everything else. One thing I will miss is pulled pork so I would like to try and find an alternative to that, maybe pulled chicken?

It would be really nice to hear people's thoughts on this, as I mentioned before I don't want anyone to stop eating pork because of me, this is just something that I personally wanted to do. So please leave a comment with what you think! Also if anyone has any veggie pork alternatives then please let me know...

Hello everybody I am finally out of my essay nightmare and have had a day recovering (playing Sims) so now it's back on the blogging. A bit ago my January Glossy Box arrived and I thought I would talk you through it especially as I have now used a few of the products so I can let you know what I think!
This is the Deliciously Stella edit box:

Nip and Fab Kale Fix Moisturiser
I haven't tried this yet but I have heard really good things about Nip and Fab so I will definitely be getting back to you about my thoughts on this one!

TheBalm Meet Matt(e) Trimony Single Eyeshadow
This is so so cute- I would say out of all the products in this box this is the most ~out there~ for me, because I don't wear eyeshadow that often, and definitely not this type of colour, HOWEVER, I am definitely willing to give it a go and it's nice to get things in the GB that I wouldn't normally try!

Unani Illuminate Milk Cleanser
This smells lovely and so far as been doing the trick! It is really good at getting my foundation off and works well with or without a cotton pad for application. I have been using this every night AND it's a full size product!

Vitamasques Manuka Honey Face Mask
I am SUPER excited to try this, I haven't tried any sheet masks before (I know, I have been under a rock) and was going to do it yesterday in the bath but decided I would save it. I used to eat Manuka honey because I had heard about the benefits of it so I'm hoping it will do wonders for my face! I thin this would be idea for me, for when I've been on a night out or when I come back from holiday because my skin isn't naturally dry so I might need a bit of extra hydration then!

Spa To you Deep Pore Facial Brush
Spot the mistake! I got this in my last box, which I understand must sometimes happen but it is quite annoying because I already have the Clinique sonic brush for deep pore cleansing and I don't need two of these - I did message Glossybox about it on instagram but they haven't got back to me.. it is a good brush and I would really recommend it but I just didn't think I needed two of them.

If you would like to get a Glossy Box then click here!!
Have you tried any of these products before?

Yesterday was a fantastic day.

Me and Jonny headed down to the Women's March London just in time to see the rally in Trafalgar Square. It was amazing - and best of all, it was PACKED. So many people had come out to show their support, not only for women, but against discrimination of any kind.
It was one of my new years resolutions to myself that I would start to become more openly political about my feminist opinions and so I couldn't wait to get involved with the march.
I think more than anything I feel empowered after yesterday, and even though people who don't support it are asking what good it has really done, if we have managed to empower the people who were at the march, or better yet the ones at home, then we have done a good job!

I saw lots of charities and causes at the march yesterday, if you would like to get involved with them then click the links below.
Women's Equality Party
Amnesty International
Hope Not Hate
50:50 Parliament
Contact Theresa May!
Contact your local MP
This is only the beginning!

Happy Weekend everyone! Last weekend me and my sister went to Manchester of the day to FINALLY attend the "Fashion on the Ration" exhibition at the Imperial War Museum North in Salford. Being the social history geek that I am (you don't do a masters in it for nothing) I was KEEN!

The weather was gorgeous and the exhibit was amazing, even for a geek like me who reads up on these things all the time it was a lovely mix of some stuff that I already knew bits of as well as some completely new stuff that I didn't already know.

It was also so nice to see all the uniforms for women, as well as men, as I feel that the Home Front gets focussed on a lot when thinking about women, rather than the military contribution that women made to the war.

This was my favourite piece from the exhibition, without a doubt! It is an underwear set made from an emergency silk map - handed out to soldiers in backpacks in case they found themselves in a pickle. I want one!

Manchester was looking as gorgeous as ever in its own way:
If you want to go to see Fashion on the Ration BE QUICK! It's only there until the 1st of May

So this post is going live a little later than I wanted it to, because I have been so so busy with my masters essays (sure anyone that has been to uni will understand!). I have been completely SNOWED in (get it???) but I couldn't wait to share some of the pictures from the days it snowed here, I saw on Insta that lots of people hadn't had any so thought it would be selfish to keep it all to myself! Me and mum went on a walk near where we live to make the most of it, here are some photos from the snow days!

Also last night I got my FIRST EVER COMMENT! Oh my goodness - I really love feedback so please leave some and I'm looking for some new blogs to read as well so please leave your web address in the comment!!

This was the view from my window when I woke up - always a sign it's going to be a good day!

So this Christmas one of my favourite presents was from Jonny, he got me a year long subscription to Glossy Box! I am mega excited for it to start, I got a special gift card box and then logged on and made my profile where I specified what sort of skin and hair I had (oily all round) and my skin shade and it said it would arrive in just ten days! This was my first box, that Jonny wrapped up for me, in it I got:

MUDMASKY - Facial Detox Purifying Recovering Mask
I can't wait to try this I am loving my face masks at the moment as I'm getting a lot of my university deadlines done so I pop one on while I'm writing essays then I can kid myself I'm multi-tasking.

MAKE-UP ACADEMY - Eyeshadow Palette - I have already used this a couple of times, perfect for nights out

SPA TO YOU - Deep Pore Cleansing Facial Brush - I actually forgot to include this in the flat lay because it was in the bathroom (I have actually been using it that often)

COWSHED - Wild Cow Invigorating Body Lotion

NARS Cosmetics blusher - in Orgasm - this is now my everyday blusher! I love this so much

I also got a Glossy Box make up bag which is super nice - can't wait for the next box to arrive!! Will keep you informed. You can sign up to Glossy Box here: www.glossybox.co.uk

I need to do more beauty posts, I got so many amazing new products in my M and S beauty advent calendar and my acne has actually been going so something is working!!

Happy New Year!
I haven't done a New Year post on the blog yet, but I feel it's time I did now.
I don't think I am going to do any OFFICIAL new year's resolutions, but I do think I should take this opportunity to talk about 2016 as well as 2017.
2016 was a big year for me, I passed my driving test, got a car, got onto a masters course, started my masters course, settled into living in Leek and got my wonderful (but naughty) cat Peggy.
So I would like 2017 to be an extension of these successes, rather than a completely fresh start. I would like to swear less, blog more and read more (as well as the classic be healthier), but I would also like to declutter my life a bit, getting rid of some things I have been hanging onto since I lived in Russia. I want to graduate from my masters with a good grade and a sense of achievement, and be more at peace with where my life is going career-wise.
This year I would like to feel more in control of my life so I can do more things I enjoy.
What are everyone else's New Year's resolutions? What do you use to motivate yourself??

Happy New Year everyone!
So I am still catching up on my Christmas activities posts! Last week we headed down to Hampshire which is where Jonny is from. We spent a few days there seeing people and then went for pizza at Pizza Express before coming home. I thought this post would be a good chance to blog about being sensitive to gluten as when I go to Pizza Express I have to have a gluten free pizza as otherwise it would be too much gluten for my body to deal with.

So my gluten sensitivity is hit most when I eat LOADS of it, so I could have some soy sauce with my rice (soy sauce has gluten in it) but I couldn't eat normal pasta (the bulk of a meal). It does make things really annoying sometimes, but luckily now a lot of restaurants have a gluten-free menu or at least gluten free options. I am going to try to eat less gluten in 2017 as it can make me really sluggish and tired (as well as all the tummy problems that I won't bore you with!), and inevitably gets worse when I get stressed so these are all things I would like to avoid.

At Pizza Express, I ordered the Soho 65 on the gluten free base (I wanted to have something that at least seemed a little healthier as we had been eating lots of greasy snacks at Jonny's parents' house), with dough balls to start! PE is one of the best places for gluten free pizza for anyone who is looking for one.

I've also included a photo of a GORGEOUS Post Box that we overlooked while eating.

On the 27th (post Boxing Day lull day one) I met up with some of my favey friends at the Snow Goose in Macclesfield. I had never been before and it was really lovely! It is ski lodge themed which was really cosy and lovely for around Christmas time, we had mulled wine to warm up and then lunch - where I had toast with avocado and bacon (perfect brunch food!!). It was really reasonably priced and I definitely want to go again.
We also had a little (big) friend watching us eat (see below) he was also making himself very comfy on one of the chairs!

You can find the Snow Goose here: http://www.snowgoosecafebar.co.uk
